Tabeat is a Chrome extension that places a pixel pet in your browser. This policy explains what data the extension accesses, how it uses that data, and what it does not do.

// what we access

The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

tabs — to read tab metadata (last access time, URL) in order to identify stale tabs for the pet to eat.
storage — to save pet state, relationship level, and settings locally on your device via chrome.storage.local.
alarms — to schedule periodic checks for stale tabs and pet behavior updates.
activeTab — to display the pet on the currently active page.
sidePanel — to render the pet control panel in the Chrome side panel.
contextMenus — to add optional actions to the right-click menu.

// what we do NOT collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information.
We do not track your browsing history.
We do not send tab URLs or page content to any external server.
We do not use cookies or any cross-site tracking.
We do not sell or share any data with third parties.

// local storage only

All pet data — including relationship level, pet state, and user preferences — is stored exclusively on your local device using chrome.storage.local. This data never leaves your browser.

// remote configuration

The extension may fetch configuration (pet appearance, behavior settings) from api.tabeat.app. This request contains no user data — it is a simple read-only download of the pet's configuration file. No information about you, your tabs, or your browsing is included in this request.

// ad detection

The pet detects and removes advertisement elements from web pages as part of its "eating" behavior. This detection happens entirely within your browser. No information about the ads or the pages you visit is sent anywhere.

// children's privacy

Tabeat does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The extension collects no personal data from any user regardless of age.

// changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at tabeat.app/privacy with a revised date.
